Lyne Marshall’s convoluted journey, moving from being a Registered Nurse to full time arts practice and the twists and turns of researching the creative process form part of her books, which you can explore on this website.

While working in health Lyne studied art with the dream of having a full- time art career. After completing a Bachelor of Creative Arts in 1995, at USQ in Toowoomba life became hectic as she exhibited in over 40 solo exhibitions in Australia, USA, China, Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand. As well as exhibiting in many mixed exhibitions, Lyne wrote, illustrated and published four sought after books on creative processes. Her work is in many private and business collections and in several major regional galleries around Australia and currently she is currently an exhibiting artist with Art Clique in a purpose built gallery at Ningi, Feather and Lawry in Toowoomba and Cool Art Gallery at Mt Coolum.

PROCESS AND INFLUENCES

Lyne uses a variety of materials and processes but is predominantly a painter using acrylics. Travelling helps the artist find examples of the unexpected in all corners of Australia.  Her art is not about localities but rather about the emotional experiences encountered.

Working in her studio at Ningi brings the artist closer to her childhood home. Exploration remains a huge part of her art process. As she travels and gains inspiration from the land, Lyne finds  emotional freedom and energy working from nature and over the years has been influenced by many  artists including Chinese/ French artist Zao Wou-Ki. This has increased her interest in producing art that has a spiritual reflective aspect and leans towards a more abstract interpretation of the landscape.

The artist is wanting the viewer to walk with her as she finds these pristine spaces. Research and exploration are then a large part of how she works and the excitement of the studio environment, and the joy of seeing her vision emerging on a canvas, never wavers.

EXHIBITIONS AND AWARDS

The many exhibitions in commercial and regional galleries, both in Australia and overseas, are detailed in the CV on Lyne Marshall’s webpage. She has had many exciting adventures in the pursuit of her art career including being involved with Austrade in exhibitions in Santa Fe,  Los Angles and Shanghai and giving workshops and exhibiting in New Zealand and Japan. Her art has been exhibited also in two solo travelling exhibitions, ‘Hidden Dimensions’ and ‘Re-Location’,  in Queensland, NSW and South Australia.

Over a long career there have had many highly commended awards, and first prizes –  2007  the AMRO MORGAN Flying Arts Regional Award,  2004 the Stockland Art Award, and 2008 and 2015 the Ipswich Art Awards drawing and digital art prizes. Having been the recipient of three significant RADF Grants,  an artist in resident program with Flying Arts in 2015, and  inclusion in publications and  judging art awards, twice with the Matthew Flinders Art Award. Lyne has published four books on creative process over a nine year period between 2007 and 2015.
