Paul Klee notebooks, Volume 1: The Thinking Eye and Volume 2: The Nature of Nature. These were Klee’s workshop notes from the Bauhaus and the basis of his own life’s work. He noted that teaching allowed him to get in touch with his own way of working. Like Leonardo, Klee sought to understand nature and the creative process, and studied it intensely.
